Our head office is at Millbrook Business Park in Rainford, about 10 miles from Liverpool city centre as the crow flies. You’re welcome to meet us face to face at the office, but you don’t have to travel. We can also visit you at home or your business premises, talk by phone or set up a video call.
Rigby Financial has been a family business since Ralph Rigby founded it in 1980, and our team includes directors Simon Rigby and Jeremy Calderbank, both independent financial advisers.
Financial planning for each stage of life
Most people don’t need every kind of advice at once, so we’ve set out the points where an independent financial advisor tends to make the biggest difference.
Buying your first home
Our mortgage advisors search the market for a residential mortgage that suits your circumstances, then manage the application through to completion. If you’re buying for the first time, we’ll explain each step as it comes, from the agreement in principle to liaising with your solicitor.
Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.
Protecting a young family
When other people depend on your income, you should consider what would happen if you died or couldn’t work. We can advise on life insurance and other protection, critical illness cover and income protection, and help you decide how much cover your family would actually need.
Growing your savings and investments
Before recommending any investments, we look at what you’re saving for, when you’ll need the money and how much risk you’re comfortable taking. That might mean using your ISA allowance, paying more into a pension or building a wider portfolio, but we can review it with you as your plans change.
The value of investments and pensions can fall as well as rise, and you may get back less than you invested.
Planning for retirement
As retirement creeps ever closer, questions about your pension become more specific. You may be able to take part of it as a tax-free lump sum or buy an annuity for a guaranteed income. You could also leave your money invested and draw an income from it, or combine these options. We’ll look at all your pensions together, explain what each choice means for your income and tax, and recommend an approach that suits you.
Passing on your wealth
From 6 April 2027, most unused pension funds will be included in your estate for inheritance tax. That change affects many families who had planned to leave their pension untouched, so it’s a good time to review your plans. Our inheritance tax planning advice covers options such as gifting during your lifetime and the use of trusts.
Advice for Liverpool business owners
If you run a limited company, some of the most valuable planning happens at business level. We advise on key person insurance, shareholder protection and relevant life insurance for directors, along with workplace pension schemes and group protection for your staff.
What happens at your first meeting?
When we first sit down to discuss your situation, we’ll want to find out where you are now and what you want to achieve. It helps if you bring recent pension statements, details of your savings and investments, your mortgage information and any existing protection policies. If you don’t have everything to hand, don’t worry – we can gather it for you.
Before we start any work, we’ll confirm in writing what our advice will cost. We then research the market and send you a written report explaining what we recommend and why, including the alternatives we considered. Nothing goes ahead until you’re happy with it.
